JULY 2026 - Descendants the Musical
in collaboration with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts
In July 2026, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy partnered with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts to present Descendants the Musical at the Mahaffey Theater as part of the Bill Edwards Foundation’s Class Acts Summer Camp Program. Featuring a cast of talented young performers from across Pinellas County, the production showcased the students’ vocal, acting, and dance skills in a fully staged musical experience. The performance engaged school audiences and families alike, continuing our mission of bringing high-quality youth theatre to one of Tampa Bay’s premier stages.

In July 2025, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy partnered with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts to present Legally Blonde the Musical Jr. at the Mahaffey Theater as part of the Bill Edwards Foundation’s Class Acts Summer Camp Program. MAY 2025 - Junie B. Jones Jr.
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In May of 2025, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Junie B. Jones the Musical Jr. at the Mahaffey Theater through the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series. With a vibrant cast of young performers, the production brought Barbara Park’s beloved character to life in a high-energy, family-friendly performance. The show combined humor, music, and heart, allowing students to shine on a professional stage while engaging school audiences in the joy of live theatre
APRIL 2025 - Kids Logic | A Sketch Comedy
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In April 2025, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Kids Logic, an original-style sketch comedy performance, as part of the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series at the Mahaffey Theater. Through fast-paced scenes, comedy, and larger-than-life characters, the young cast explored the wonderfully unpredictable way kids see the world. The performance gave Sears Studio students the opportunity to strengthen their comedic timing, character work, and ensemble skills while entertaining a school-day audience.
FEB 2025 - Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In February 2025, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical at the Mahaffey Theater through the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series. Inspired by the events surrounding the Little Rock Nine, the musical uses an imaginative world, memorable music, and humor to introduce young audiences to themes of inclusion, acceptance, courage, and standing up for what is right. Sears Studio performers brought this meaningful story to life for students from throughout the community.
OCT 2024 - Goosebumps the Musical
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In October 2024, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Goosebumps the Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium. Community performances were held at Smead Hall at Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church, including a special Halloween performance and Trunk-or-Treat celebration. The cast also brought the production to the Mahaffey Theater for a school-day performance through the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series.
JULY 2024 - The Little Mermaid Jr.
in collaboration with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts
In July 2024, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy partnered with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts for the Class Acts Summer Camp production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Following three weeks of rehearsals, young performers from across Pinellas County brought Ariel’s underwater world to life on the Mahaffey Theater stage. The production combined acting, singing, dance, costumes, and technical theatre to provide students with an immersive summer musical theatre experience.
May 2024 - SchoolHouse Rock Live! Jr.
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In May 2024, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. at the Mahaffey Theater through the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series. Inspired by the classic educational television series, the production transformed lessons in grammar, math, science, history, and civics into an energetic live musical. Sears Studio’s young performers brought favorites like multiplication, conjunctions, and American history to life for a school-day audience through music, movement, and comedy.
JAN 2024 - Mad Libs Live: A New Musical
Class Acts Performance at the Mahaffey Theater | St. Petersburg
In January 2024, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy presented Mad Libs Live! A New Musical at the Mahaffey Theater through the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Class Acts Series. The interactive musical combined comedy, music, audience participation, and the familiar fun of Mad Libs as four young performers competed in a live word-game adventure. The production encouraged creativity and a love of language while giving Sears Studio performers the opportunity to entertain and engage a large school-day audience.
JULY 2023 - Seussical Jr
in collaboration with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts
In July 2023, Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy partnered with Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts to help launch the first Class Acts Summer Camp at the Mahaffey Theater, presenting Seussical Jr. as the program’s inaugural production. Young performers spent two weeks rehearsing before bringing the colorful world of Dr. Seuss to life on the Mahaffey stage. The production marked the beginning of what became an annual summer collaboration, creating an opportunity for young artists from across the community to train, perform, and experience musical theatre on a professional stage.
